Kobe’s one and only National Treasure Come to Taisanji for a uniquely relaxing Japanese experience
It is temple tour where is Kobe’s one and only National Treasure. The main hall of Tansainji Temple is the only important national cultural property in Kobe city and a must visit place. You can also access inside buildings which are normally not open to the public such as Rakando and Amidado. In Amidado, you can try using Mokugyo (wooden fish) in association of sutras by the chief priest in front of the Buddha statue. Experiences such as Zazen and Shakyo (about 30 characters) are also included in the tour. You can take Shakyo paper home as your souvenir.
Temple courtyard (Three-storied pagoda, main hall, Rakando, and Shakado)
We visit buildings in Taisanji Temple, including the inside of Rakando which is normally not open to the public. In Rakando, there are Buddha statue and Rakan statue from the Edo period. (You cannot enter three-storied pagoda and Shakado as the buildings are old.)
Amidado
We enter inside Amidado which is normally not open and the guide explains about history and Buddha statue of Taisan-ji Temple. Amida Nyorai statue (Buddha statue) is registered as an important national cultural property. You can experience Shakyo and meditation in front of the statue, filled with a quiet environment.

Kobe Port → Tour of Taisanji temple → temple experience → Kobe Port
The tour is not wheelchair friendly.
Due to temple ceremony, some days are randomly not available.
As there aren’t many restaurants near the temple, we recommend you not to arrange the tour around noon.
When the temple has a funeral ceremony, a guide will change.
Please note that during Shakyo, participants sit on the floor and use a low table.
