Japanese Traditional Vaudeville Performances and Workshop
1. A Japanese traditional vaudeville music, ohayashi.
Western and Asian music familiar to guests as well as Japanese traditional music will be performed.
2. Juggling acts (umbrella twirling performance, knife throwing and more)
These were originally Shinto ritual performances date back to more than 400 years ago. Workshops will follow the performances.
3. Rakugo in EnglishIt
Rakugo is traditional Japanese comic storytelling performed alone. Brief comments on history and sense of humor in rakugo will be followed by a performance by Kaishi Katsura. He is one of the pioneers rakugo in English making many television appearances during his US tour in 2008. He also had a performance at the Sydney Opera House and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. A couple of volunteers can join a storyteller experience on the stage. Each guest will have a photo shooting time, wearing kimono jacket on the stage.
Kobe Fresh Market
Kobe Fresh Market, one of the largest shopping complexes in western Japan, is a kilometer-long shopping district and has 500 stores. It is called Kobe’s kitchen. Besides groceries, they also have a wide range of daily necessities. An experienced guide will show you the best spots.
Japanese Casual Style Restaurant Hakidame
Hakidame is an old-fashioned style local gastropub and the best-rated casual Japanese lunch spot in the area. Kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers), Yakitori (chicken skewers), Sashimi (fresh raw fish), and homey style dishes are available in a friendly and peppy atmosphere.

Katsura Kaishi might be substituted when he is not available.
Hakidame is closed on Wednesdays.
